Truth-Telling

Bridge-Building

Parenting Beyond Whiteness

I speak about race, parenting, adoption, and the messy truths of life because I’ve lived them. As a white mother raising two Black children with complex needs, I’ve confronted systemic bias, unlearned invisible patterns of whiteness, and learned firsthand what it takes to show up bravely for the people we love.

My goal is to share real-life lessons, hard truths, and actionable insights that inspire audiences to reflect, grow, and act with courage, compassion, and clarity.

Marion Speaks On:

  • Interracial Adoption & Parenting
  • Raising Children of Color as a White Parent
  • Mental health, Disability and Systemic Bias
  • White Privilege and Cultural Humility
  • Advocating Fiercely in Schools and Systems
  • From Saviorism to Solidarity
  • Parenting through Rage, Trauma and Hope

I speak from my own journey — not from my children’s pain.

As a white mother raising two Black children with complex needs, I’ve had to unlearn invisible patterns of whiteness and learn to love in ways that hold space for truth, trauma, and transformation.

I don’t do this work to center myself. I do it to shift the systems and conditions that make this work necessary.

My children are not my platform. They are my wake-up call, my compass, and my reason to keep going.

Signature Talks

Raising Black Children as a White Mom: Truths, Privilege, and Courageous Parenting

Raising Black children in a white body is filled with love, joy, and profound challenges. I share the realities of systemic bias, privilege, and the hard lessons I’ve faced, including how to balance self-compassion with advocating fiercely for my children. Participants learn when to educate, call in, or call out bystanders and how to show up bravely in parenting, community, and work.

Adoption, Money, and the Hard Questions: What We Don’t Talk About

Adoption is framed as love, but money and power shape the system in ways most people don’t see. I share my firsthand discoveries navigating domestic and international adoption, exploring difficult questions: Should money have a place in adoption? How does it affect children, birth families, and adoptive parents? Participants are invited to examine assumptions, confront messy truths, and explore ethical, compassionate action in adoption.

From Struggle to Advocacy: Lessons in Fierce Love

Raising children with complex needs is full of heartbreak, frustration, and impossible choices. I share how I learned that love alone isn’t enough — it takes courage, awareness, and relentless advocacy. Participants gain inspiration to turn struggle into action, advocate fiercely, and show up boldly for those they love.
